This image was shot tonight with the same camera/telescope arrangement I used for the preceding picture.  I shot it using MaximDL with the D70S plug-in.  The file was saved as a .nef (Nikon Electronic Imaging Format) file and processed with MaximDl.  I used the standard Moon stretch then brightened and sharpened the image with DDP and FFT processing.  Unfortunately the image that I can upload to Typepad does not do justice to the resolution produced by the D70S camera.  The original jpeg image was over 4 megabytes but Typepad compressed it to around 130 kilobytes.  I haven't figured out how to make the software do otherwise.  I suppose I wouldn't want to upload a .nef file anyway.  Each one, when downloaded from MaximDL is 35 megabytes in size.

Another Moon Shot

This shot of the moon was taken on November 8, 2005 with a Nikon D70S, shutter speed 1/40 second.  The telescope was a Takahashi FS-102 with a Televue 1.6 extender at f/13.2.  Click the image for a larger version.
