Daily Log

Ellie started the tooth implant process today.  First thing is a "flipper", a temporary tooth that does nothing except look good until the implant is put in.  Next the tooth will be pulled and the implant screwed into her jawbone.  Then a few months go by while it heals then the "abuttment" is installed.  The abuttment is a conical gadget that screws into the appliance that was implanted in her jawbone.  After the abuttment is installed, there's another impression made and the final tooth is built.  The final tooth is then installed.  What a process!  No wonder it's six thousand dollars.

Choir library after the tooth thing.  Then got a text from Joe asking me to shoot a video deposition downtown.  Got there around 2:30 after having to go to a half dozen parking garages and lots.  Not sure why everything was full.

Finished depo at 4:45.  Got to choir practice at 6:45.

Now I'm going to try to add thumbnails to this post.  Not able to edit pictures with Aviary so I'm going to try this .

OK, I guess you can't edit a picture after you've posted then go back.  I'm now going to try again.'

Well, that doesn't work either.  Not sure why.

 

I'm now going to try to edit a photo using the new Typepad editor.  Tried yesterday using Explorer 9 and it wouldn't work.  We'll see how it works with Firefox.

Ellie is having big dental problems. She's got one tooth (two actually but the second isn't as bad) that needs to be pulled because it's dieing. The perodontist says he can put in an implant for the paltry sum of 2800 dollars. But wait, there's more. She also needs a temporary crown because she has to let the implant stump grow in place for several months. That's an additional 700 dollars. But wait, there's more. She then has to have a crown on top of the implanted stump. That's another 1000 dollars. Sum total: 2800+700+1000=4600 dollars. How joyful is that considering that's one fourth her income for the year and about one sixth of mine. I'm beginning to think that leaving Senior Road was a big mistake. The deposition video business is foundering and every mommy with a digital camera is a photographer nowadays so it looks like I'm out of business. Maybe I'll see if Wal Mart is hiring greeters.

So, I hear that Typepad has a new photo editor. I suppose it's for those lesser persons who don't have things like Lightroom or Photoshop. But I'm gonna try it anyway. So here goes.

Well, that was less than inspiring. I tried to upload a photo and got nothing except the little whirlygig thing that indicates you're uploading something and need to wait. Finally dumped it after waiting about 5 minutes.

And, I'm not sure that the supposed fix for Explorer 9 is working. When I hit enter the cursor jumps down two lines then jumps back up to where it started. If I hold shift key the cursor goes down one line and stays. Why is that I wonder.

I think I'm in a rut. Sunday morning: church. After church: lunch somewhere. After lunch: come home, take a nap. After nap: mess around on the internet or listen around on the bands. After internet or ham bands: TV. After TV: go to bed. Same thing every Sunday. I think I'm in a rut.

Church conference today where our pastor spoke on evangelism. He is very inspiring but I wonder how long we will hold the inspiration after we leave the church building. It's easy to think about all the amazing things you will do and another to put them in practice.

Beautiful weather yesterday and today. Had a nice walk in the park yesterday, shot some pictures and a couple of videos.

Friends from choir over tonight for dinner...chicken enchiladas and other assorted Mexican food. I'm hungry already.
